Ed Arnett

HOST

Ed has been a professional wildlife biologist for more than 30 years and has worked on wildlife and forestry, renewable energy, oil and gas development and conservation policy issues for federal agencies, private industries and academia and non-governmental conservation organizations. He has worked with numerous species of wildlife and studied bats for more than 20 years, including research on these unique mammals for his doctorate degree. He is a certified wildlife biologist through The Wildlife Society and has published several scientific articles and book chapters from his work on forest songbirds, bighorn sheep, bald eagles, bats, and wind energy-wildlife impacts. Ed serves as the CEO of The Wildlife Society and is also an adjunct professor at Colorado State University. He is an avid outdoorsman and conservationist dedicated to fish and wildlife management, conservation policy and education.

The Late Gary Strieker

Was the founder and Executive Producer

After a first career as an international lawyer, Gary turned to television journalism and worked for nearly 20 years as CNN’s Nairobi bureau chief and the network’s global environment correspondent. In his “Our Planet” series, he covered stories ranging from the bushmeat crisis in central Africa to the destruction of tropical forests in Indonesia, Peru and Papua New Guinea. His work was awarded the National Press Club’s top prize for environmental reporting.

 

Dave Timko

PRODUCER, CINEMATOGRAPHER & EDITOR

Dave Timko is an award-winning documentary filmmaker with nearly three decades of journalism experience. In his combined roles of producer, shooter and editor, Timko co-produced over 40 documentaries for CNN, specializing in first-person narratives of the most relevant stories of our time. He has been recognized for his work with 5 National Emmy Awards, and has been a regular contributor to This American Land since 2012.

Jonathan Sargent

Jonathan has strived to help others tell a great story for over 20 years. Always loving the challenge of a complicated design, a tricky composite, or just the perfect edit to get the needed emotion or reaction that completely fits the client, He has worked with them all, from Discovery Networks to HGTV, Disney, Turner and more. 

 

Christine Nkini Strieker

Christine worked for CNN as a producer and sound technician in Africa and around the world covering the global environment. After taking a break to be a full-time mother and home-school her kids, she now contributes to This American Land with a passion for inspiring conservation through storytelling..

Marsha Walton

Series Producer

Marsha is a science, technology and environment writer and producer. She worked at CNN and CNN.com for 16 years, covering the Mars rover landings and numerous space shuttle missions, hurricanes, tornadoes, and climate change, and wrote and produced hundreds of stories for CNN.com. Working with correspondent Miles O’Brien, their 2008 documentary “Broken Government: Scorched Earth” won a 2008 National Headliner Award for environmental reporting. She currently produces segments for the National Science Foundation.
